CosmoCaixa, the science museum

CosmoCaixa is the city's science museum and the family favorite: a real Amazonian flooded forest inside the building, a geological wall cut like a cake and hands-on physics that adults end up monopolizing.

The flooded forest

A living reproduction of an Amazonian river ecosystem with fish, birds and caimans, grown tall under the museum's glass. It alone justifies the trip up with children.

Practical visit

It sits at the foot of the Collserola hills above the Eixample, reached by funicular-plus-walk or the blue tram. Plan three hours; the entrance fee is modest and the cafeteria is honest.

When to choose it

Rainy days, jet-lagged arrival days and any afternoon with children in tow. Pairing it with the Tibidabo area makes a full alternative day away from the tourist circuit.
