The city's history: MUHBA

The Museum of History of Barcelona is a network of sites rather than one building: the Roman necropolis inside Plaça del Rei, the Call interpreter center in the old Jewish quarter and the Born market ruins among them.

Underground Roman Barcelona

The Plaça del Rei entrance descends into the Roman city: streets, laundries and wine workshops preserved under the square. Four stones that explain this was Barcino before it was anything.

The Call and 1714

The medieval Jewish call and the Born market excavation of the neighborhood razed after 1714 tell the two hardest chapters of the city's history, both within the old town.

Pick two sites, not all

The MUHBA spreads across a dozen locations. The underground Roman site plus the Born ruins make the strongest pair; the temples and towers scattered elsewhere reward the completist.
