The Miró Foundation on Montjuïc

The Fundació Miró was designed by the artist himself as a container for his work: a white Mediterranean building by Josep Lluís Sert on the Montjuïc slope, with terraces and light planned around the paintings.

Painting, sculpture and the workshop

The collection walks Miró's whole trajectory, from early figuration to the sign language that made him universal, plus sculpture and tapestries. The building's scale makes it a calm two-hour visit.

Combining the hill

It is a ten-minute walk from the MNAC and the garden cemetery, with the castle further up. The port cable car drops the brave nearly at the door with the best photo of the trip.

First-rate temporaries

The foundation programs contemporary shows in dialogue with Miró that often justify a second visit. Check what's on before fixing the day.
